West Virginia CNA State Exam paves the way for an exciting career as a certified nursing assistant and work in the health care service industry. If a person is willing to make it big as a Certified Nursing Assistant he must have to be 18 years old and possess high school or GED degree to his credit. This is the minimum qualification required for him to get enrolled for the state approved CNA training program which lasts for a minimum duration of 120 hours and has two sections of written and clinical training. The training is designed in a manner so as to make the students familiarize with various health care aspects like, hygiene, nutrition, personal care, infection control, fire safety, therapeutic procedures, patient/client rights and also patient communication. Post the completion of the nursing training program the student has to appear for a final assessment test that includes a written and manual skills evaluation. The written test is a set of 72 multiple choice questions that needs to be answered within the stipulated time period. As soon as you finish it you are evaluated and if you score enough you are allowed to appear for the next section which is the practical part. In the practical test the state examiner would assign you 5 skills out of the 25 that you have learned during the training. You have to perform these tasks within a time of 30 minutes on a live model as you are observed by the examiners who will then be evaluating and rating you.
If you manage to get passing grades in both the sections you become eligible for the CNA certification. If you have followed the classroom and the practical sessions carefully you should be able to attend to maximum questions as they are based on all that has been taught to you during the training. You may also refer to the handouts and notebooks besides the practice tests that help you brush up on your skill and boosts your confidence before you go for the real test.
If you get passing marks in both the parts you pass the final assessment test and it gets you listed and registered on the West Virginia Nurse Aide Registry. Now you can now search and work in any health care agency in Washington or any state in the USA. However, if you fail the test you can attempt it a maximum of 3 times before retaking the entire training program and then sit for the competency test.
